COMMUTE
COMMUTE
The catalyst for this particular body of work was dialogue from phone conversations on my commute to Milwaukee and the memories that were evoked as a result. The act of drawing is much like driving, connecting point A to point B, getting lost in the process and working through your thoughts as you look ahead. Through this investigation the work is addressing the idea that a place can be more than just a building or a city but a person, memory or relationship. These ideas are represented visually through the use of architectural metaphors merged with imagery from of my personal travel experiences.
Through this exploration larger questions arise in the work such as, "How does the past form our perceptions of place and in turn how does that effect our present relationships with the people and environments that we are part of?"
