Stephanie Barenz is a painter, printmaker, and architecture lover from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her work is created with the hope that it would stimulate a conversation about the sanctity of knowing one's neighbor, the importance of locality and the elevation of the commonplace to the remarkable.

Artist Bio

Stephanie Barenz is an artist currently living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her Bachelors of Art from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota, with a year spent in Florence, Italy. Stephanie spent one year as a resident artist at the Chicago Printmaker's Collaborative and completed her MFA in Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.  Barenz has taught at Washington University in St. Louis, The Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and currently teaches at Wisconsin Lutheran College.  She shows work frequently at Caggio on Brady Street in Milwaukee and is represented at Katie Gingrass Gallery in the Third Ward. She has been invited to exhibit work at Dean Jensen Gallery, the Racine Art Council, and the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. She was asked by Schiffler Publishing to be part of their new book 100 Midwest Artists, which will be released in late 2011. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has chosen her as a Gallery Night Pick in 2009 and 2010 and was a featured artist in the January 2011 Gallery Night Publication. She has exhibited across the U.S. and abroad and has work in collections in Romania, New York City, Minnesota, Chicago and St. Louis.
