Mixed-media artist in Madison, Wisconsin.

Stephanie Barenz is a Wisconsin-based visual artist whose work explores the relationship between place, memory, and belonging. She creates layered works that investigate how our surroundings quietly shape our inner lives. Through painting, printmaking, collage, and drawing, Barenz transforms observations gathered through walking, travel, and daily experience into compositions that balance figuration with abstraction.

Barenz holds an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis and has completed residencies at the Art Students League of New York, the Chicago Printmakers' Collaborative, and the Pfister Hotel Artist-in-Residence program. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Milwaukee Art Museum, the Museum of Wisconsin Art, John Michael Kohler Art Center, Sino ArtSpace in Shanghai, and the Walker's Point Center for the Arts. She currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin, where she maintains her studio practice while serving as Gallery Director at the Overture Center for the Arts.
